Electromagnetic forming of tube is a kind of high energy rate and high speed processing method,which can be used to act on tube surface to deform it rapidly by the magnetic field force generated from a forming coil instantaneously.Forming coil is a crucial part of the electromagnetic forming system.Along with its auxiliary accessories,the coil composes the implementation components of electromagnetic processing of tube,and their structural parameters exert significant influences on the result of tube forming.Due to the restrictions of the dimensions and processing requirements of the tube to be processed,the structural parameters of forming coil vary.It is of great significance for the result of tube forming to select the structural parameters of forming coil properly.In this paper,a theoretical analysis based on electromagnetic is performed to study the capacity of the discharge device in the electromagnetic forming system and to calculate discharge circuit parameters of the forming coil in detail,including electrical resistance and inductance.According to the actual dimensions and processing requirements of the tube to be processed,the structural parameters of forming foil are determined preliminarily.With finite element analysis software Ansoft Maxwell 3D and ANSYS workbench as research method,electromagnetic forming processes of two different tubes(bulging of TC4 titanium alloy welded pipe fitting end and electromagnetic reducing of small diameter white copper pipe fitting respectively)are simulated.The results of simulation further determine the structural parameters of forming coil and its auxiliary accessories.Finally,an practical experiment is carried out based on the results of theoretical analysis and finite element analysis.A forming scheme is designed according to the characteristics of electromagnetic forming of tube,pipe fittings' dimensions and processing requirements.After measuring and processing of the experimental data,we conduct the analysis to value the influences of these parameters of forming coil on tube fitting.By comparing of the experimental results and simulation results,the reliability of finite element analysis is verified to provide evidence for the structural parameters of forming coil and its auxiliary accessories.
