The elastic modulus of the rock mass is the necessary parameter for the engineering and the numerical simulation.The determination method of rock mass elastic modulus is always a hot research direction.It is difficult to determine rock mass elastic modulus directly in the engineering practice.There isn't a existing method to calculate rock mass elastic modulus by using engineering site data.Therefore a new method is needed to calculate the elastic modulus of the rock mass.The fissures in rock mass determine the elastic modulus of rock mass,fissure spacing and apature are two important parameters to represent fissure and they determine the seepage characteristics of rock mass.A saturated and continuous model is established in the paper,the seepage flux in the excavated region will reflect the elastic modulus of the rock mass directly when the excavation area in the rock mass is known.The relationship between the seepage and the elastic modulus of the rock mass is deduced based on the ? theorem in the dimensionless analysis and the relationship curve is generated by using finite element numerical simulation.In the engineering practice the elastic modulus of rock mass can be detetmined by using the dimensionless chart when the seepage flux is known.The elastic modulus of rock mass of Anchuan Iron Mine is calculated by using the dimensionless chart in this paper when the excavation area and the seepage flux is known.The result is close to the real data,which proves the effectiveness and accuracy of the method.
