Photocatalysis technique is one of the prospective ways to convert solar energy to chemical energy, which is green, environmental friendly and sustainable. In order to promote the solar energy conversion efficiency, the essential way is to explore proper photocatalysts for the target photocatalytic reactions. The photocatalytic performance of many traditional catalysts is still far from satisfactory due to the high cost, high recombination rate of photo-generated electron-hole pairs and poor light response. To our delight, the booming of the nanomaterials may provide a feasible way to find the ideal p hotocatalysts. Therefore, the popular nanomaterials,ZnO and MoS2,were used as the promising catalysts in photocatalytic reactions to solve the aforementioned problems. The main results obtained are as follows:?1?We obtained ZnO nanoparticles,ZnO nanosheets and ZnO nanorods via hydrothermal method. The as-prepared sample was characterized by Transmission Electron Microscopy?TEM?,Scanning Electron Microscopy?SEM?,UV-vis spectroscopy, etc. The photocatalytic activities of the catalysts were evaluated by the photodegradation of MB under UV-vis light irradiation. It is founded that ZnO nanoparticles showed the best photocatalytic performance. It may be due to two main reasons:increased specific surface area and improved electron-hole pair separations.?2?Single or few-layer MoS2 was prepared by a chemical exfoliation method. The MoS2/ZnO composites were prepared via the hydrothermal route. The as-prepared sample was characterized by Transmission Electron Microscopy?TEM?,Scanning Electron Microscopy?SEM?,X-Ray Diffraction?XRD?,UV-vis spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy?XPS?,etc. The photocatalytic activities in the aerobic oxidation of benzyl halides under visible light irradiation were investigated. As expected, the MoS2/ZnO composites exhibited enhanced photocatalytic performance compared with pure MoS2 and ZnO.The best yield and selectivity for the desired product increased can be up to 60%and81%,respectively.
