With the development of society and advancement of science and technology recently,the development and research of novel material received more and more attentions.The novel material possesses special physical and chemical properties,which result in advanced applications in various aspects of industry and life.Nano metal and hydrogel composite is a kind of novel hybrid materials with combination of nano metal and polymer hydrogel.This material not only inherits the unique properties of the individual component but also shows unique properties beyond individual components,which result in promising application in diverse fields such as sensing,catalysis,drug deliver,medical detection et al.The novel noble metal nanoparticle and hydrogel composite was fabricated by coating nanoparticles on the surface of hydrogel using a room temperature electron reduction with glow discharges plasma as a cheap electron source.This process is green with easy and simple operation.The noble metals tested include Au,Ag and Pd.In the composite,the nanoparticles are only closely packed on the surface of hydrogel.Au nanoparticle is uniformly dispersed but Ag and Pd nanoparticles form agglomeration.The Au nanoparticle and hydrogel composite has been used as a catalyst for the reduction of methylene blue?MB?and 4-nitrophenol?4-NP?.The composite shows good performance and the TOF for these two reactions are 3631.1s-11 and 871.5 s-1,respectively.The Au nanoparticle composite film was further fabricated based on the Au nanoparticles and hydrogel composite.The process was very easy.Au nanoparticles are closely packed in the composite film.The film has special surface plasmon resonance?SPR?and has been used as surface-enhanced Raman scattering?SERS?substrate.Using 4-aminothiophenol?4-ATP?as probe,an enhancement factor of 106and a detecting limit of 10-12 mol·L-1 were achieved in the SERS test.Moreover,this film as SERS substrate exhibits good stability and uniformity.
