Based on the analysis of the key layer theory, the similar material simulation experiment and the numerical analysis of the discrete element software were carried out.The movement law of the overburden in different key layer positions was studied by means of the mechanical model of Yichang Energy Yunjialing Coal Mine. Were studied. On the basis of predecessors' research, based on the theory of key layer, the position discrimination of key layer and the migration of mining overburden and the characteristics of stress change are studied theoretically.Based on the study of Yunjialing coal mine, the similar experiment is carried out to study the geologic mining conditions of the mining area. The purpose of the experiment is to explore the displacement law of the overlying strata and the pressure condition of the working face under different key layer positions. At the same time during the experiment using a dial indicator measurement system and close-range photographic monitoring system two kinds of measurement methods, the movement of overlying rock carried out a high-precision real-time measurement.By comparing the obtained data, the law of overlying strata and the controlling effect of the key layer on the movement of overlying strata are obtained. Finally, two sets of planar models are established by using the discrete element software FLAC3 D as the research background, and the numerical simulation of the influence of the key layer on the movement of the overburden and the stress change is carried out.And then verify with each other similar simulation materials, and finally get the different key layer location on the impact of overlying rock migration. The conclusion will provide some theoretical basis for the future coal mine production of Yunjialing Coal Mine, and also provide some reference for the coal mine with similar geological conditions.
