In recent years, haze weather has broken out more and more frequently, which seriously threatens people's health and life. This indicates that air pollution control has been and will be long-term and severe challenges.Pollutants emitted by motor vehicles are one of the major sources of city air pollution, and their contributions to the formation of severe haze are important. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the pollution characteristics of motor vehicles and the emission reduction effects of pollution control policies for air pollution control. In this paper, the author established the emission inventory of motor vehicles in the Yangtze River Delta region in 2015,and comprehensively analyzed the characteristics of motor vehicle pollution emissions. The author investigated the implementation of the pollution control policies of motor vehicles in the Yangtze River Delta Region from 2014 to 2016.Based on these datas, the author assessed the emission reduction effects of CO,NOx,HC and PM of the five policies in 2015,including the implementation of vehicle emission standards in advance, the elimination of yellow-label vehicles and old cars, the promotion of new energy vehicles, the upgrading of fuel quality in advance, and the vigorous development of public transportation. Then policy recommendations for pollution control of motor vehicles were provided. The results show that in 2015,the total amounts of CO,NOx,HC and PM emissions from motor vehicles in the Yangtze River Delta Region were 2.94 million tons,1.12 million tons,0.28 million tons, and 0.05 million tons respectively. From a regional point of view,Jiangsu Province has the highest emission of all pollutants from motor vehicles and the lowest in Shanghai. From the perspective of vehicle types, gasoline passenger cars have the highest emissions of CO,and diesel-heavy trucks have the highest emissions of NOx,HC,and PM.They are the main vehicle types for further emission control in the Yangtze River Delta region. From the perspective of emission standards, the old car with 40.21%of its ownership contributes more than 75.39%of the vehicle's pollution emissions. There is still much room for the upgrading of the vehicle emission standards in the Yangtze River Delta region. From the perspective of urban areas, the total emission of pollutants per unit area in the urban area is 3.56 to 8.12 times that of the suburbs. Therefore, urban areas with more concentrated pollution from motor vehicles need to be further controlled. The five policies reduced the total emissions of 529.9 thousand tons of CO,267.7 thousand tons of NOx,38.8 thousand tons of HC and 20.5 thousand tons of PM.And the elimination of yellow-label vehicles and old cars had the best effect of reducing emissions. The reduction effect of four policies in Shanghai was better than that of Jiangsu,Zhejiang, and Anhui,so Shanghai has played a leading role in these policies. In addition, there are still significant differences in the implementation of motor vehicle pollution control policies in three provinces and Shanghai. The time difference should be shortened as far as possible, and the regional coordinated management should be truly implemented. In other regions of China,we can learn from the experience of motor vehicle pollution control in the Yangtze River Delta, adopt comprehensive measures for the prevention and control of motor vehicle pollution.
