Mostly reservoir rocks belong to weakly consolidated sand in Bohai oilfield,in the high risk of sand production.Almost all wells need sand co ntrol completion before production.The question is how to get the maximum capacity based on effective sand.Optimized design of sand control including methods and parameters is the key to solving the problem.The main reservoir of Kenli block in Bohai is the basic research object.Main research contents include main reservoir rock strength,sanding mechanism,qualitative sanding prediction and critical producing pressure drop.According to the above research results,the necessary of sand control can be determined for different layers.The paper defines a parameter named “logarithm difference factor” to represent quantifiable differences between laser method and sieve analysis method and considers the minimum of factor as the joint point to attain join-correction particle-size distribution.Combined with clay mineral test data,there is sufficient basis to optimize sanding methods and parameters for sand control design.Based on stratigraphic sanding unit,the results of gravel pack simulation tests show that the optimal design of method and parameter is effective.Gravel pack sand control can prevent sand flowing into wellbore and ensure that the reservoir has good permeability.
