After gas channeling of carbon dioxide when the oil production by carbon dioxide flooding reaches the middle-late development stage, the content of carbon dioxide of produced liquid always increases drastically, and a serious problem of foaming of crude oil may be caused. In order to alleviate the problem of the foam brimming over the tank of the separator and buffer tank and to improve the efficiency of separation,it is necessary to research the breaking features of foam and the antifoaming characteristic with the function of the mechanical components. The principle of foaming crude oil of the gas-liquid separator is analyzed. The foaming method of laboratory study on foam properties is determined. The experimental schemes used to simulate foaming and antifoaming of crude oil of carbon dioxide flooding in the separator are designed and optimized. The experiments of foaming and antifoaming when the containers, bath temperature, solution temperature, solution pressure are different are completed, and the influence of above factors on the breaking characteristic of oil foam is studied. The mechanical defoaming experiments with the function of the defoaming nets and baffle plate are completed, and the way of foaming is determined. The influencing laws of the material, wire diameter, the time of adding the defoaming net and the layers of the defoaming nets to the defoaming velocity are compared and analyzed. The influencing laws of the thickness and spacing of the baffle plate to defoaming velocity are determined. The conclusion is expected to provide references for the design and installation of the defoaming nets and baffle plate of the separator.
