Nickel oxide(NiO)is a P-type semiconductor with face-centered cubic(fcc)structure. As one of the most popular materials,NiO has a great application potential in many fields because of excellent catalytic and electrochemical reaction activity, thermal and gas sensitivity, and electrochromic properties. In this thesis, the NiO nanowires(NWs)were prepared by chemical reduction method combined with post-annealing oxidation process. The structure and composition of NWs were tested and analyzed.Lastly, the photocatalytic activity of the NiO NWs was investigated. Our main research results can be summarized as follows:1.By optimizing the synthesis parameters,NiO NWs were prepared with the diameter of ~300nm and length of ~100?m;2.The test results showed that NiO NWs have a face-centered cubic structure, which consisted of NiO nanoparticles without any other impurities except for Ni and O elements;3.The photocatalytic activity of NiO NWs for the degradation of methylene orange dye was studied. The test results showed that NiO NWs have good photocatalytic activity. After one hour's irradiation, the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange rate is about 36% and that could reach 77% when the irradiation time was 5 h;4.The photocatalytic activity of zinc-doped NiO NWs was studied.Compared to the NiO NWs,the photocatalytic performance of zinc-doped NiO NWs was not significantly improved and the reason was discussed.
