Polybutylene terephthalate?PBT?is an aromatic polyester with excellent electrical properties and heat resistance.PBT fiber has excellent elasticity, softness and easy dyeing. It is widely used in sports and medical industries,PBT is sensitive to the gap and has been challenged since 2010 by polytrimethylene terephthalate?PTT?fibers that are more flexible and of relatively similar price.By block, graft or blend of PBT modified, you can get better overall performance of materials, broaden the application of PBT fibers, reduce material cost.In this paper,ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer grafted maleic anhydride?EVA-g-MAH?,ethylene-octene copolymer grafted glycidyl methacrylate?POE-g-GMA?,ethylene-methyl acrylate-Glycidyl methacrylate?EMG?and polypropylene copolymer grafted maleic anhydride?PP-g-MAH?as compatibilizer,Different proportions of PBT/PP blends were prepared by melt blending. The blends were characterized by scanning electron microscopy?SEM?,differential scanning calorimetry?DSC?,thermogravimetric analysis?TG?,capillary rheometry Instrument and other tests to analyze the structural properties of blends and to study its spinnability aner structure1.Effect of compatibilizers on the structure and properties of blends.?1?SEM analysis found that PBT/PP blends are incompatible systems. When PBT/PP?70/30?,the first three compatibilizers were added,of which 1%EMG added the best compatibilizing effect on the blends;when PBT/PP?30/70?,The blends had the smallest dispersed phase size at%PP-g-MAH.Without compatibilizer, the blend showed a typical island structure.?2?Infrared analysis showed that there is no obvious change in the infrared spectrum of the blends after addition of 1%of compatibilizer EVA-g-MAH,POE-g-GMA and EMG at PBT/PP?70/30?.The characteristic peak of pure PBT at 937 cm-1 was weakened in the blend. The blend PBT/PP?30/70?,adding different content of PP-g-MAH,pure PBT in the 1017cm-1,937cm-1,873 cm-1 at the C-O,O-H stretching vibration peak in a total Infrared spectrum of the mixture is not obvious.?3?TG and DSC analysis showed that the addition of the first three kinds of compatibilizer at PBT/PP?70/30?can make the Tg change from single peak to double peak, the heat resistance of the blend increases and the melting point has no obvious change; When PBT/PP?30/70?,compatibilizers POE-g-GMA,PP-g-MAH,the decomposition temperature of the blends decreased and the melting point did not change significantly?4?The rheological property analysis shows that at the same shear rate of PBT/PP?70/30?,the apparent viscosity of blends without addition of 1%compatibilizer exhibits different amplitude The apparent viscosity increase of 1%EVA-g-MAH blend increased most significantly, reaching 24Pa.s.The rheological properties of blends without additives and 1%EMG at 2600C,2700C,2800C,With the increase of temperature, the apparent viscosity of the blends decreased; At PBT/PP?30/70?,the apparent viscosity of blends at 2700C with the compatibilizer POE-g-GMA content Increased there is no obvious increase.2.Effect of compatibilizer on the properties of blends.?1?1%EMG is better than 1%POE-g-GMA and 1%EVA-g-MAH when PBT/PP?70/30?.The tensile strength and elongation at break of 1%EVA-g-MAH blends were the best, and their mechanical properties were better than that of pure PBT fibers. The compatibilizers EVA-g-MAH,POE-g-GMA and EMG are effective nucleating agents for blends.?2?When PBT/PP?30/70?,the blend containing EVA-g-MAH and EMG was not spinning, the spinnability of PP-g-MAH was better than that of POE-g-GMA and the content was 5%;With the increase of compatibilizer PP-g-MAH content, the mechanical properties and crystallinity of the blends decreased.
