Hydrogels are polymers with three-dimensional network structure.The main monomers are hydrophilic monomers,so hydrogels contain copious amounts of water.Due to the presence of crosslinked structures in hydrogels,hydrogels can maintain a certain shape and softness in a high-water content,and are widely used in many fields,such as wastewater treatment,tissue scaffold,biosensor and drug release.Due to the high-water content of hydrogels,the mechanical properties of hydrogels are extremely poor,so the application of hydrogels is limited.In recent years,many researches focused on improving the mechanical properties of hydrogels.Various kinds of hydrogels can improve mechanical properties by diverse ways.For hydrophobic associating hydrogels,the tensile strength is still less than 500 Kpa,so improving hydrophobically associating hydrogel tensile strength is of great significance.This paper presents a nuclear shell emulsion particle enhanced hydrophobicity hydrogel,which includes two parts.The first part is the preparation of nuclear shell particles,the method of emulsion polymerization,MMA as polymerization monomer,DCPA as crosslinker,and KPS as initiator The PMMA core and DCPA residual double bonds on the surface of PMMA core were prepared by BA onto PMMA/BA core shell emulsion particles.The core shell particles were characterized by particle size analyzer(DLS)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).In the second part,the free radical polymerization method uses AAm as monomer,HMA as hydrophobic monomer,nuclear shell particles as hydrophobic association center,redox system,TEMED initiating polymerization to prepare shell particle reinforced hydrogels,due to nuclear shell.As a hydrophobic association center,the hydrophobicity chain segment is effectively induced,and the mechanical properties of hydrogel are improved greatly.The tensile strength of the hydrogel reaches 1.8MPa,the elongation at break reaches more than 20 times,and the Mullins effect proves that the nuclear shell particles have a great strengthening effect on the hydrophobic gel water gel.This method is designed and developed.The new generation of hydrophobic association with excellent mechanical properties provides a better way.
