With the rapid development of mid-infrared?MIR?technology,chalcogenide and chalcohalide glasses have been much attention.Due to wide infrared transparent window,high refractive index and low phonon energy,they are considered as promising MIR transmitting,nonlinear photonics materials and excellent host materials for MIR lasers.In this paper,we prepared novel Ga2S3-Sb2S3-CsI and Ga2S3-Sb2S3-CsBr chalcohalide glasses based on the Ga2S3-Sb2S3 chalcogenide glass.The glass forming,structure,thermal and optical properties weresystematically investigated.The major work and obtained results are described as follows:?1?Novel Ga2S3-Sb2S3-CsI chalcohalide glasses were prepared.It has a glass-forming domain composed of 035mol%Ga2S3,1595mol%Sb2S3 and055mol%CsI.The glasses have a wide transparent window of 0.713.5?m,high third-order nonlinear refractive indices of 1.78.7×10-14cm2/W@1.55?m,relatively short zero group-velocity-dispersion wavelengths of 3.85.15?m.Moreover,these glasses can dissolve a large number of rare earth ions(such as Dy3+,>2mol%).These superior properties demonstrate their good potentials for mid-infrared application such as thermal imaging,nonlinear photonics and mid-infrared laser.?2?Based on the previous research of Ga2S3-Sb2S3-CsI glasses,the mid-infrared luminescent properties of Dy3+ions in a new chalcohalide glass host were systematically investigated.The Dy3+-doped chalcohalide glasses exhibit good thermal stability??T>100??and low phonon energy(307 cm-1).The 2.96?m and4.41?m have intense MIR emissions under 1.32?m excited.These emissions show quantum efficiencies???as high as60%,and have relatively large stimulated emission cross sections(?em).These favorable thermal and emission properties make the Dy3+-doped Ga2S3-Sb2S3-CsI glasses promising materials for MIR fiber amplifiers or lasers.?3?New Ga2S3-Sb2S3-CsBr chalcohalide glasses were prepared.The glass forming domain was determined which composed of 2040mol%Ga2S3,1080mol%Sb2S3 and 060mol%CsI.The mainly structure of Ga2S3-Sb2S3-CsBr chalcohalide glass are consisted of[GaS4]tetrahedron,[SbS3]vertebra and[S3Ga-GaS3]ethane-like structural units.After CsBr is added to Ga2S3-Sb2S3 chalcogenide glass,the Br-ions play a role of terminator which repalce a part of bridge sulfur bond,and form[GaS3Br]structure unit.The Cs+ions play the role of the charge compensator.The glasses show the densities are 3.523.97g/cm3,the refractive indices are1.9462.579?@10?m?and wide transparent window of 0.614?m.These results show a good potential application in the thermal imaging.
