With the rapid development of the world economy in recent years, the demand forthe world's transportation network has reached a new height, a large number of largecross-sea bridge emerged in this context, Throughout the history of the world bridge, theexamples of the cross-sea bridge damaged in the wave action are uncommon. Thecomplex ocean waves environment make the effects of the storm on the towering bridgetower structure of the suspension bridge across the sea become complicated, which alsoproposed new challenges to the construction of the suspension bridge across the sea,Considering the safety and economy as well as the comfort after the completion of thesuspension bridges across the sea, the research of the force and response of the suspensionbridge across the sea under the single wind, the single wave and the combination of windand wave is significant.This paper use the method of a combination of experimental studies and theoreticalcalculations, use the analysis method of elastic model experiments juxtapose with thetheoretical calculations, to research the force and response of the tower under the singlewind, the single wave and the combination of wind and wave. The main contents andconclusions are as follows:1. Study the design, fabrication and installation method of the elastic model, use themethod to design the elastic model experiment of the bridge tower, the design resultsshow that the elastic model in accordance with Froude criteria, use aluminum core toprovide rigidity, use plexiglass shell to provide shape can better meet the similargeometric, the similar stiffness, the similar weight and the similar damping, it can meetthe requirements of the elastic model experiment.2. Process and analyze the experiments data of the tower 's elastic model experimentsunder the storm effect, research the force and response of the tower under the single wind,the single wave and the combination of wind and wave, analyze the effects of the couplingof storms and waves on the structure's force and displacement response.3. Study the classical buffeting theory that used to calculate the structure's buffetingresponse under the single wind and the diffraction theory that used to calculate the waveforce of the large-scale cylindrical structure, use this two theory to the calculations of the experimental model in this content and compare the result of the calculation to theexperimental results, verify the correctness of the two existing theories and the accuracyof the experimental results.
