The chemical composition of sapphire is Al2O3,which has excellent performance in many ways and is widely used in production and manufacturing.Sapphire has the feature of high brittleness and hardness,which leads to difficult processing and seriously restricts its popularization and application.Currently,in the domestic the diamond band saw is mostly used as tool for the first sapphire processing-slicing.Considering the characteristics of sapphire and with the reference of other sapphire cutting equipment,the band sawing machine is developed in this paper,which can achieve sapphire surface with good quality,low cost and high efficiency.The band sawing machine is developed based on project requirements.This paper introduces the development of sapphire processing equipment and structure optimization,studies structure design and finite element analysis of key parts,and then proposes solutions to the lightweight design of band sawing machine,which accumulates successful experience for future band sawing machine design and new product development.Firstly,this paper introduces the sapphire processing characteristics-high hardness,brittleness,compares different sapphire processing equipment,and then chooses band sawing machine as structure layout according to use requirement.Meanwhile,with the study of overall structure layout,key parts design has been completed with mechanical design theory and 3D Solidworks model has been built.Secondly,the finite element analysis to key parts?Band saw and band saw frame?is conducted,which studies deformation and stress distribution of band saw blade and frame.Besides,influence of different factors on its naturefrequency has been discussed.Finally,influence of different machine body structures on key performance indicators has been discussed and relatively better layout has been used as the optimization prototype.By using Ansys Workbench Design Exploration,optimization to machine body has been completed,which cuts weight and meets the design accuracy meanwhile.
