In traditional cable-stayed bridge and suspension bridge, ordinary steel wire or strand are extensively used as stay cable and hanger rod. However, with the ever-growing span of bridges, durability problem caused by corrosion and the problems that bridge structure's self-weight stress occupies too much of its allowable stress as well as large volume of the construction work is needed caused by the big density of traditional material emerge obviously. What's more, it will cost a lot and bring traffic problem in cable-replacement works in future. This requires that the component materials of stay cable and hanger rod should have high performances to ensure its stability and durability under long-term load in the severe environment. CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer/Plastic) with high strength, light weight and anti-rusting is probable to be the substitute of the rational steel stay cable and hanger rod in cable-stayed bridge and suspension bridge in a harsh natural environment. RPC(Reactive Powder Concrete) are the new-type cement matrix composites which have high compressive strength, durability and toughness. Because of its fine properties, RPC are probable to be the substitutes of the conventional cement mortar grouts in bond-type anchorage system.Relying on the support of the National Science Foundation-the capability research of the impact resistance of CFRP stay cable and anchorage system, experiments have been done to study the transverse mechanical behavior of stay cable made of CFRP which is anchored by RPC in bond-type anchorage system. The main content is as follows:(1) Through the tensile test and lateral static load test of CFRP stay cable anchored by RPC in bond-type anchorage system, the failure patterns, ultimate load, strain distribution characteristics in the anchorage, the bond-slip curve of CFRP in the tensile test and the damage patterns, ultimate lateral load, ultimate lateral displacement, lateral load-displacement curve, strain distribution characteristics in ultimate limit state, cable force-slid curve in lateral static load test are studied. The results show that the critical anchorage length of CFRP anchored in RPC is less than 150 mm and that the initial tensioning force benefits the mechanical performance of CFRP stay cable.(2) Utilizing the high performance drop weight impact test enginery in human university, the mechanical performance of CFRP stay cable anchored by RPC in bond-type anchorage under low speed is studied. The main research content include the failure patterns of CFRP and anchorage, lateral impact load-displacement curve, limitable force and its increment, slip characteristics under lateral impact load. The influence of initial tensioning force, anchorage length and cable protection on CFRP stay cable and its anchorage system is also an investigation in the article. Test shows that the transverse shearing angle of CFR P stay cable increase by 0.2 ? with the increase of impact emerge by fifty percent and that the load of slip threshold is only 45.92 ken-50.56 ken for specimen subjecting to initial impact load. The critical anchorage length of CFRP subjecting to impact load is less than 150 mm.(3) On the basis of CFRP cable lateral Static and dynamic test results, failure modes for two different load specimens, ultimate lateral load, ultimate longitudinal cable force and cable tension increment, slip characteristics are compared and analyzed.
