| Under the background of energy sources increasingly intention and the growing problem of environment, China’s energy situation is particularly serious, which makes developing the industry of clean energy such as wind power become inevitable choice to our country, even to the whole world. However, the intermittent wind power poses serious challenges to the directed integration of wind power plant. Fortunately, the development of energy storage provides the solution to integration of large-scale wind power. Energy storage can solve the problem of wind power randomness and volatility, by suppressing the output power fluctuation of wind plant. Flow battery is suitable for wind power integration application due to its high-power density, rapid adjustment ability and long operating life.This article proposed a high order multi-parameters polynomial mathematical model of flow battery and its simulation model which can prove the model could obtain good accuracy. An optimization strategy called adaptive bandwidth slide filtering was also presented, and the simulation result showed that the algorithm could significantly minimize the energy throughput of battery, under the premise of the same stabilizing result. This article also analyzed the correlation between wind power curtailment and the energy storage configuration, by the nonparametric estimation method, based on which the economic model was proposed. The simulation result revealed the way to calculating the optimal rated capacity and max power of flow battery, and reflected the advantage of optimization strategy compared with the traditional method.Moreover, the principle and implementation of grid-connected convener based on phase-amplitude control strategy was presented in this article, and provided an indirect compensation method which was proved its effectiveness and applicability by prototype experiment, to reduce dc offset on inverter’s output voltage. Implement and prototype experiment of the VRB(Vanadium Redox Flow Battery) simulator was also introduced. The experiment result revealed that the simulator had a good precision of simulation. Furthermore, based on the proposed grid-connected convener and VRB simulator prototypes, the grid-connected experimental platform was designed and the testing results showed that the prototype and proposed optimization strategy can meet the requirements of grid-connection, thus the feasibility of the proposed design scheme is verified, with good control ability and strong practicality in engineering. |
