| Road icing is the common phenomenon in most parts of china in winter which seriously endangers the driving safety. Especially, the black ice cannot be distinguished by the naked eyes and the road monitors at night. So far, domestic and foreign researchers designed and developed a variety of ice sensors based on different principles, many of those principles can be used to detect road icing. But many detection principles are not mature enough to be applied practically. There are also many mature products cannot be used widely because of high-cost.In order to achieve practical application for the detecting road icing, two ice detection systems, contact ice detection system and non-contact ice detection systems, have been developed depending on the current mature ice detection technology. For contact road icing detection system, the basic principles of piezoelectric flat membrane ice sensor and fiber optic ice sensor have been briefly described. Then the shape and the principles have been modified and improved rightly depending on the application requirements. After that, the signal process system of piezoelectric flat membrane ice sensor has been designed with the sweep circuit in the core. And the signal process system of the fiber icing sensor has been designed depending on lock-in amplifier. Then the simulated icing test of each sensor has been designed and completed, and the calibration has been finished through those tests. At last, the feasibility of contact road icing detection system has been verified through field test. For non-contact road icing detection systems, the theory investigation on the basis of the prior literature review has been outlined and the measurement scheme has been determined. In the scheme, the state of the road surface is distinguished by detecting the degree of polarization of the reflected light, and the thickness of ice is measured by detecting the size of the laser reflected light spot. Then a principle testing system has been set up, in which asphalt block is used to simulate the state of the road surface. The feasibility of non-contact road icing detection system has been verified through the principle tests. Finally, in view of the application background, several tests have been designed and completed, such as changing the angle of light and camera, changing the wavelength of light and so on. Through the results of these tests, the possibility of practical application of this scheme has been verified. |
