As the problem of energy shortage and environmental pollution is more and more serious, green energy-saving and environment-friendly vehicles become a focus of automotive industry today. Automobile frame as the main load-bearing structure of the car, is an important part of whole car.Therefore, under the constraints of strength and stiffness, the lightweight design of frame is of great significance for car of weight loss and energy saving.Based on the analysis and summary of the research on Automotive structural optimization techniques at home and abroad and the research of the lightweight design method of frame, this paper selects a type of commercial vehicle frame as an engineering example for analysis and verified. This paper use two process.First, by using HyperWorks optimization module OptiStruct, the fundamental optimization model of frame was built,taking the deformation energy as objective function, using the method of changing density;carried out topology optimizations,optimization results were got.Then according to topology result and design experience,parametric model was built by using CATIA software and it's static analysis and modal analysis was done in the application of ANSYS software.The second step, the MDO software Isight is used to integrate two extensively used engineer design softwares, including CATIA and ANSYS to complete the structural Sizing optimization work.The beam position and width of the frame size were optimized,selecting the minimum quality as optimization objectives, maximum stress, maximum displacement and frequency as constraints and in application of multi-island genetic algorithm.Finally, the frame was checked. The results showed its strength and stiffness meet the design requirements,the quality of the frame after optimization was less than before and it‘s dynamic characteristics is good, theoretically verified optimization methods in this article is feasible, the design process is reasonable.
