The application prospect of Electronic Power Transformer(EPT) in the power system has been recognized by more and more scholars all over the world. When EPT is applied in practical engineering, its performance must be fully studied under different conditions. As high-voltage and large-capacity power electronic devices, the EPT industrial prototype can be easily damaged when tested under complicated conditions. On the other hand, in the actual project, it is not allowed that the prototype is tested under various conditions. Therefore, improved simulation research is needed to provide the theoretical basis for industrial prototype of EPT. In this paper, the electromagnetic transient model of10kV/400 V EPT industrial prototype is built based on PSCAD/EMTDC, and the electromagnetic transient process of the EPT is discussed under different conditions.Firstly, the principle and topology of EPT is analyzed, and its generic equivalent physical model and universal mathematical model are built in this paper. Then the main circuit configuration and control method of 10kV/400 V EPT are studied, and its mathematical model is also built accordingly. In addition, the electromagnetic transient simulation model of 10kV/400 V EPT is established in PSCAD/EMTDC with reference to electromagnetic transient numerical calculation method. And the simulation results show the correctness and effectiveness of the model of 10kV/400 V EPT.Furthermore, according to the electromagnetic transient simulation model, a start-up scheme and a redundant protection scheme for 10kV/400 V EPT is proposed respectively. And the simulation results show that the two scheme can be well implemented. On the other hand, the dynamic characteristics of EPT is analyzed when the model of EPT is simulated under different conditions — unbalance input voltage, short-circuit faults, unbalance load, and so on. The simulation results show that EPT can work well and maintain the stability of the output during the transient process.
