Ultrasonic motor (USM) is a new type of motor which is derives in the nineteen eighties. Compared with the traditional electromagnetic motors USM has many essential differents. Electromagnetic motor mainly convert the electric energy to the mechanical energy by the magnetic pole and the winding while the USM converte it by the inverse photoelectric effect of the piezoelectric material. Researches on the USM have been started in the nineteen eighties and it has made considerable progress after about thirty years. Compared with the traditional electromagnetic motors the USM have many excellent properties due to their unique operating principle and characteristics. The USM have been widely applied to micro machine, robot, precision device, camera, etc in the United States, Japan and other developed countries and they will have more wide development space in the future. So far, the USM have become a new kind motor that have many different kinds but there isn't a unified classification for them. The USM can be classified in different view.The USM can be classified in to the standing wave USM and the traveling wave USM based on the elliptic motion that is formed. The biggest disadvantages of the standing wave USM are the serious abrasion and the short service life compared to the traveling wave USM. For the traveling wave USM could greatly improve the above shortcomings, this type of USM has been obtained much more rapid development in many countries of the world. The future development directions of the USM are the miniaturization and high torque. Considering the two main development directions of the USM and the developments on the basis of a lot of literatures at at home and abroad, the USM drivers are still not ideal which can greatly influence the USM's application features. Therefore, this paper mainly researches the USM driver based on the double rotors of cylindrical bar-type USM in order to obtain the maximum unique properties.The main research results are summarized as follow:(1) Firstly, do a simple review of the background and significance of the USM. Secondly, do a brief introduction of the classification, characteristics and problems of the USM.(2) In this chapter, it will introduce some relevant basic theoretical knowledge of the piezoelectric ceramics and establishes the mathematical model of the USM.(3) With the reference to the related literature both at home and abroad and compares of the current common traveling wave ultrasonic motor drivers, there are still some defects that affect the maximum unique properties of the USM. In this paper, the design of the driver is mainly based on the chip of UCC3895 which is produced by TI company. Compared with the drivers based on SCM or other chips, this driving circuit can be greatly simplified and its stability can be also greatly improved.(4) The design of high-frequency transformer is also necessary because the USM must run in the high-frequency signal that more than 100V. Because the USM is capacitive it needs the electrical match in order to improve its operating characteristics.(5) In this chapter the simulation will be done and some experiments will also be done based on the specific conditions of the laboratory. Later, the results of the simulation and the experiments will be compared.In this paper, the ultrasonic motor driver not only has been produced according to the design, but also has been made corresponding simulation and experiment. Through the specific experiment, we found that this ultrasonic motor driver in this paper can drive the specific ultrasonic motor of the laboratory, achieve a relatively good state of operation and consistent with the original design requirements.
