The Architecture Expression Of Structure Material Research

In current Chinese architecture area, architectural design tends to become symbolized and epidermidalized. There is one thing can be notified from current popular styles such as ‘bizarre style’ or ‘classical national style’, that is, architectural design is mostly qualified by public aesthetics. As a result, architectural form and design have to follow public aesthetics. In such a manner, reasoning behind architectural structure design is neglected by architects in most cases, which explains the disagreement between architects and structural engineers. As architectural design becomes more specialized, architectural structure is usually recognized by architects as a carrier of architectural forms for entertaining the publics.Architectural structure plays a vital role in architectural design, acting as basis for it, which should receive attentions and emphasis from architects. Motivated by such facts, in this paper, we discussed the relationships between architectural form, architectural structure and engineering material. Based on analysis of architectural form’s dependence on architectural structure, we explored the importance of architectural structure with respect to architectural form from different perspectives. Instead of recognizing architectural structure merely as a carrier, architects should fully exploit its potential as basis for different architectural forms. Based on analysis of architectural structure’s dependence on engineering material, we discussed the influence of structure materials on architectural structure from aspects of science, aesthetics, sociology and ecology, with which we established basic application principles for structure materials, expecting other architects to design architectural structure from perspective of structure material and to construct architectural structure as a rational and multifunctional complex.
