Due to its simple structure?simple construction methods and bearing soil pressure with wall body weight, gravity retaining walls are widely used in highway and railway slope support. But as the growth of the gravity retaining walls in operation time, the existing gravity retaining walls appear a lot of damages under the effect of external force and internal force. Great changes take place in the safety conditions. Therefore, it is necessary for the safety assessment of existing gravity retaining walls, clearing the safety status of gravity retaining walls. Thus, It can make the decision- making on retaining wall reinforcement and reconstruction scientifically and minimize repair &maintenance cost and operating accidents.According to the research trends of the home and abroad and the engineering practice, on the basis of summarizing the predecessors' research results, this paper studied on the safety assessment of existing gravity retaining walls, the main results are as follows:In the full analysis limitation of the existing security evaluation methods, safety assessment system of existing gravity retaining walls is divided into the overall assessment and detailed assessment. O verall assessment uses qualitative assessment method to evaluate the ove rall safety status of retaining walls. Detailed assessment uses quantitative methods to evaluate safety status of the details of retaining walls Overall assessment and detailed assessment results complement each other.For overall assessment, hierarchy-fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is proposed. The method combine analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and fuzzy theory. Based on analytic hierarchy process(AHP), security evaluation index system of existing gravity retaining walls was put forward. Then using multilevel fuzzy evaluation model states safety status of retaining walls.For detail safety assessment, safety coefficient evaluation method is put farward. In the comprehensive analysis of design and destruction forms of retaining walls, detail safety assessment is divided into stability of safety assessment, resistance to foundation uneven settlement damage safety assessment, resistance to wall body damage safety assessment, resistance to sliding along the weak layer damage safety assessment of five aspects.Combining with engineering examples, this paper expounds the application of safety assessment system of existing gravity retaining walls. At the same time,a set of existing gravity retaining walls safety assessment system was developed with MyEclipse 8.6 development tools?Oracle 10 g database?tomcat 7.0 server.
