China is one of the countries which have undergone great disaster from a lot of earthquake in the world for a long time. Therefore it is very important to promote the development of damping technology in China.Through reviewing a lot of literature and summing up some experimental studies and practical engineering of viscous damper, buckling-restrained brace and hybrid damper at home and abroad, the types and damping principle of dampers are introduced, the analysis method and design process of the damping structure are summarized. By using SAP2000 to build model of a structure, this paper study damping performance of hybrid damper and hybrid damper of different layout schemes. Some conclusions can be obtained as follows:(1)By appending damper and stiffness, response spectrum analysis can be used to design structure of hybrid damper.(2)Hybrid damper can make use of buckling-restrained brace and viscous damper to control base shear and story displacement of the structure.(3)Hybrid damper can flexibly control the stiffness and additional damper of the structure(4)By contrasting two horizontal plan of the hybrid damper, the torsional performance can be decreased of the plan where buckling-restrained brace is arranged outside of the structure and viscous damper is arranged inside of the structure.(5)By contrasting two vertical layout plan of the hybrid damper, the torsional performance and the story displacement can be decreased of the building where buckling-restrained brace is arranged lower story of the structure and viscous damper is arranged higher story of the structure.
