As the energy tension and increasingly serious environmental pollution, energy conservation and emissions reduction has become a worldwide hot issue. China is a world-class great power of automobile and energy consumption. In 2013, China's apparent oil consumption of 514 million tons, oil imports of 300 million tons, oil imports accounted for 59.5% of total consumption. Therefore, alternative fuel for internal combustion engine to reduce the consumption of petroleum resources in China is particularly important. Methanol as a liquid fuel, with oxygen enrichment and renewable, has already been proved can be used in internal combustion engine. China is rich in coal resources, with a huge methanol production capacity, and a shortage of oil resources. So, methanol as one of the alternative fuels of the internal combustion engine is a necessary and ideal choice for China.Our team has been put forward the Diesel/Methanol Compound Combustion technology(DMCC) more than 10 years, applying the methanol in compression ignition engine successfully. However, our previous research mainly focus on naturally aspirated and turbocharged inter-cooled diesel engine, and the technology mainly used in heavy trucks, rather than Engineering Machinery with the turbocharged, non-cooled engine. Therefore, this study focus on the feasibility of DMCC applied in Engineering Machinery g and the influence on its working characteristics.First of all, we partial refit a typical Engineering Machinery engine turbocharged without cooled, enabled it to DMCC. After finished test bench, we compared the engine performance with pure diesel and DMCC mode, analysis of DMCC's influence on engine's combustion, power and fuel economy characteristics. After that, since satisfied result from bench test we have got, we have tried to applying DMCC to Engineering Mechanical combined with previous work experiences. Investigated the effect of Engineering Mechanical's performance by DMCC through practical application.Bench test show that the use of DMCC, contrast with pure diesel mode, the Engineering Machinery engine has the following differences: 1) In terms of combustion characteristic, the inlet temperature is lower and the average drop of 6.2 ?; the maximum heat release rate increases, the average growth of 44.2 kJ/(m3°CA); Explosion pressure rise, the greater the load the more obvious, by an average of 0.76 MPa, rose 6.8%. 2) In terms of performance, the torque of external characteristic can appear a slight drop in 2.8%, and effective power decreased average by 4.62 kW, 2.3%. 3) In terms of the fuel economy, about 30% diesel can be repleaced by methanol when the Engine using of DMCC; the effective specific fuel consumption largest reduced by 15g/(kW·h), with an average drop of 5.0 g/(kW·h), down2.3%; the effective thermal efficiency, with an average increase of 0.87%.The application test results show that the power of Engineering Machinery can be enhanced when used DMCC. Fuel economy is improved, take the tub as an example, the replacement rate running 35%, fuel costs decreased by 24%.
