The self-centeringsteel plate shear wall(SC-SPSW) is a newload-resisting system that combines the strength andstiffness properties of theconventional steel plate shear wall(SPSW) with the recentering capabilities of post-tensioned beam-to-column connections.SC-SPSW consists of boundary frame and infilled steel plate. Infilled steel platea is the main component to resist lateral force and energy dissipation devices,boundary frame element provide recentering abilitythrough post tensioned prestressed beam-columnconnection and column base connection.If properly designed,the PT connections eliminate damage in the boundary frame and provide restoring forcesnecessary to recentering the building during an earthquake,thus reducing post-earthquakedowntime and repair costs.Seismic behavior of Self-centering Steel plate shear wall(SC-SPSW) and Self-centering Steel plate shear wall withbeam-only-connected(SC-SPSW-BO) wereanalyzed by using finite element method(FEM).FE models and analysis motheds wereverified by comparing the calculating results and test results.One bay two story models with SC-SPSW and SC-SPSW-BOwere constructed by using ABAQUS. Investigation factors were the thickness of the steel plate and aspect ratios of infilled steel plates, the effections of these factors on stiffness?strength?ductility?hysteretic performanceand energy dissipation capacitywere analyzed.Analysis results show that the work stage of SC-SPSW structure can be divided into three stages,first yield inwall?diagonal yield zones?the PT connection open.Increase of thickness of steel plate will increase SC-SPSW structure strength?stiffness?ductility and energy dissipation capacity. Steel plate thickness has no effect on the recentering stiffness, but with the steel plate thickness increase, the residual deformation of SC-SPSW will increase. The increase of aspect ratio will increase SC-SPSW structurestrength?stiffness?the residual deformation and energy dissipation capacity, reduce the reduction and stiffness of the structure. Relative to SC-SPSW with fully-connected web plates, SC-SPSW with beam-only-connected can effectively reduce residual deformation and internal force at boundary element, but lower shear wall stiffness?strength and energy dissipation capacity.Finally, based on performance objective of traditionalSC-SPSW, conclusions from study and related literatures, the design method of SC-SPSW with column PT base connection is proposed.
