In recent years, due to its responsible loading and large span, grid structure, especially the reticulated shell, has been developing rapidly, which has the advantages of both skeletal structure and thin-shell structure and will have a promising application.Traditional design methods based on manual modeling though reticulated shell joints and bars in a huge number. In recent years, with the rapid development of information technology, computers and related software widespread have been used for the reticulated shell structure design,especially when a new concept which named Building Information Modeling (BIM) was came up.As a widely used software in BIM, Revit with a friendly interface, usability and parametric design ability, has become a hot research point. From the available literature, secondary development based on Revit Structure can achieve a single spherical grid parametric generation, modeling and quantity statistics for space grids. But it still depends on the menu bar commands for quadratic reticulated shell design on Revit, which needs working with a large number data in coordinate led to heavy workload and error prone.This paper combines with quadratic reticulated shell modeling process, introduces the plug-in development method of quadratic reticulated shell parametric modeling based on Revit API and existing research results.The main advantage of the plug-in are as follows:(1) Based on C# programming language, Revit API class library, Revit mass concept and spatial grid structure technical specification JGJ7-2010, the plug-in completes the parametric design of single quadratic reticulated shell structure.(2) Automatically generated single quadratic reticulated shell structure command stream for finite element analysis software ANSYS,which can be automated modeling, divided in unit, static analysis.in ANSYS.(3) The results can be fed back to the user. Appropriate adjustments to the design according to the calculation instructions.After verification examples, the single quadratic reticulated shell modeling plug-in of this article can achieve quick-modeling and and preliminary design for single layer shell structure, thusmaximum the designers free from traditional modeling way, there is more time to process design modifications and comparison work program.
