There are various kinds of types of space structures, and each type has its unique advantages. There are also very big differences on the architectural modeling, force and economy. Truss structure with its modelling varieties and advantages on unit force is widely used in large span steel structure engineering, and it is a favorable form for the architects. Taking the Chengyang Stadium in Qingdao, a practical project, as an example, using the software ANSYS, this paper analyzes and compares the cross truss roof structure, and studies its static performance and dynamic performance in detail.Firstly, this paper introduces large-span space structure, including the characteristics and classification. Then it emphasizes on the truss structure theory and the actual engineering. Using finite element software ANSYS, the roof structure model is established, with rigid joints, pinned joints and mixed joints. By studying the truss under the effect of constant load, half-span live load and two directions of wind load, this paper gets the deformation, stress distribution, the support reaction and their changes, compares the mechanics performance of three models under the same load conditions, and gets the advantages and disadvantages of the three models.Secondly,under the working condition of heating and cooling temperature,this paper uses ANSYS to analyze the truss roof structure models with rigid joints, pinned joints and mixed joints, and its performance. Thus the mechanical properties on the structure deformation, stress distribution and the support reaction are got.Meanwhile, through comparison, the maximum under different node connection of the models is got.This paper makes it clear about the effect of temperature on the performance of large-span steel structures, which has guiding significance for the temperature control in later construction and using procedure.Thirdly, as for the cross truss roof structure in this paper, by using the ANSYS software, the dynamic characteristics of three kinds of cross truss model are analyzed, including the natural vibration and the modal analysis of natural vibration characteristics. Thus it gets the stiffness distribution and stiffness comparison of the three models.Finally, by using transient analysis module of ANSYS,this paper respectively inputs three kinds of seismic waves for time history analysis of the three cross truss models.Thus it gets the structural response and resistances of deformation and stress distribution.By comparing and analyzing, this paper finds out that under the effect of EL wave, the deformation and stress distribution of the three cross truss roof systems are the worst.The last chapter analyzes the calculation results,which has guiding and reference significance for practical seismic design of the roof truss.
