This paper focuses on the testing technology of metallic fuel burning rate and combustion efficiency. A test model of metallic fuel burning rate and combustion efficiency is put forward, and the test system is built up. Through the practical test and theoretical analysis, the software and hardware platform is optimized, and the target of the test metallic fuel burning rate and combustion efficiency is realized. Main contents include:The test principle and performance of the static burning rate test method and the dynamic burning rate test method for fuel-rich solid propellant are compared. Static burning rate test method mainly includes: target line method, acoustic emission method and thermocouple method. Dynamic burning rate test method mainly includes: ultrasonic method, engine method. The total temperature measurement, composition analysis, static pressure test and other test methods of metallic fuel burning efficiency are analyzed.Combined with the characteristics of metallic fuel combustion, the test method was optimized, and the test model of metallic fuel burning rate and combustion efficiency was established. Use the target line method to test the burning rate of the metallic fuel. Test combustion efficiency by using calorimetry. Through the analysis of the relationship between the combustion chamber temperature and the burning time, the heat released by the combustion process is calculated. Then the evaluation method of the combustion efficiency under different combustion conditions is obtained.Based on the test model of the burning rate and the combustion efficiency, the hardware circuit for signal conversion, driving control, and the state indicator is designed and built. The software for automatic control, data processing, data management, video capture and image processing is developed. A window type combustion chamber for observation and measurement of combustion phenomena is designed. And then, the effect of image processing and optical measurement on the testing technology of metallic fuel combustion characteristics was studied with the advantages of open window type combustion chamber. By using the high temperature steam generator to generate high temperature water vapor, using high temperature argon heater to produce high temperature argon, experimental studies on the combustion characteristics of metallic fuel and water vapor reaction and metallic fuel self-sustaining reaction are carried out respectively.The experiments were carried out using the software and hardware platform, and the error analysis of the test results was carried out. The relationship between the temperature, pressure, water-fuel ratio and combustion characteristics was analyzed by the test data. Based on the study of the metallic fuel burning rate and combustion efficiency testing technology, it can be helpful to master the testing method of combustion characteristics, and it can provide a help for the research of metallic fuel combustion mechanism.
