The design of detector readout system is one of the core research in X-ray pulsar navigation detector technology. The existing detector readout system mainly focus on the photon arrival time reading out, but its limitation is not having X-ray pulsar signal energy level reading out function, which limit the reserch on X-ray pulsar navigation. Therefore, research and design a kind of X-ray pulsar navigation detector readout system with energy level reading function is of great importance.This paper studies the X ray level detection theory and the existing level measurement method, proposes a method which can readout time of arrival and measure energy simultaneously for X-ray pulsar navigation detector readout system, and make up the shortage of the existing detector readout system. Adopts the digital inverse filtering method to eliminate the photon accumulation phenomena in energy level detection. By the photon information readout algorithm to analyse and process the result of digital inverse filter, realized the photon arrival time and energy level measurement at the same time, and improve the accuracy of measurement.According to the requirements of X-ray pulsars navigation, designs the detector readout system with energy level reading function. Through the analog-to-digital conversion circuit to convert the input analog signal to digitla signal, implements the inverse digital filter and photon information readout algorithm on a SOPC. By using the double buffer memory structure, ensures the data integrity under a high flow rate for photon arrival time and energy level measurement. Through a high speed communication interface, transmits the measured results to the computer, easy to apply to implemente time conversion, calculate time of arrival, rebuild the pulse contour, and valid the navigation algorithm on computer.The test result and partial simulation of the detecotor readout system shows that, considering the amplifier noise and the component tolerance, the photon arrival time readout readout absolute error is not more than 20 ns and the energy level readout relative error is less than 3% of the detector readout system. The detector readout system with energy level function is satisfied with the demand of time and energy level measuring for X-ray pulsar observations, it is benefit for deep research on X-ray pulsar radiation signal characteristics and a more accurate X-ray pulsar radiation mechanism, physical characteristics and the theoretical model under different energy level.
