With the energy crisis and environment revolution are becoming more and more serious, renewable power generation system is drawing more and more attention. The shortage of traditional energy will seriously restrict the economic development and social progress. At the same time, the process of exploiting and using the traditional energy has a bad effect on the environment. Above all, The development of new energy and renewable energy becomes the only way in the future. In the use of new energy and renewable energy, Distributed Generation(DG) is indispensable part.. But there is a voltage stability problem in DG. The paper adopts Magnetic Energy Recovery Switch which is a new Static Var Compensator, named SVC-MERS. It supplies reactive power for DG to make the output voltage constant. The main work is to analyze the characteristic of SVC-MERS and optimize the control strategy. Then, the application of SVC-MERS in DG is analyzed and studied.Firstly, Magnetic Energy Recovery Switch is introduced. Magnetic Energy Recovery Switch has three kinds of structure:Full bridge configuration, Half bridge configuration, One-switch configuration. Then, the operating principles and contol strategy of SVC-MERS are described. The electrical model of SVC-MERS is described using analytical equations. Corresponding optimization and improvement measures are put forward. Simulation are presented to verify the result.Secondly, the application of SVC-MERS in DG is analyzed and studied. Compared to synchronnous generator, induction generator has the advantagesof small size, low prize and easy maintenance. But induction generator output voltage will decrease as the load increasing and one way to stable the generator output voltage is to need reactive power. SVC-MERS is adopted to stabilize its output voltage and the configuration is presented. Then, Simulation are presented to verify the configuration. Finally, a brief introduction of main circuit and control system of the SVC-MERS experimental prototype, and experiment are presented to verify the result of SVC-MERS. the induction generator system based on SVC-MERS is setted up and experimental verification was carried on.
