To describe the present situation of the domestic and international distribution network reliability and theory development direction, summarizes the general method of reliability assessment and compared advantages and disadvantages. Induction of the basic data for calculating system reliability, introduced the reliability index, which provides the theoretical basis of the software development work.Based on the current distribution network of general wiring and contacts, put forward a new distribution network based data structured coding method. Then based on Failure mode effect analysis method developed a distribution network software. The software using ant colony algorithm optimization calculation the Failure mode effect analysis method, then used the different effects on the load point in feeder element to accumulation, directly calculate the load point reliability index; For power distribution system with Load transfer, with reference to the distributed power grid islanding algorithm is incorporated into the proposed applicable to turn for distribution system reliability transfer region judgment method, and give the calculation formula of the reliability to the load transfer area. It figure out that the feeder System reliability index and Load point reliability index, comparison results show that the software calculation results are accurate and fast, for distribution network structure more clear, can meet the requirements of distribution network operation and planning for reliability calculation and in the distribution network planning and design has a certain practical value.
