Sheet pile revetment is continuous wall envelope structure which is constituted by the sheet piles in the foundation. Compared to the traditional gravity-type revetment, sheet pile revetment has not only the functions of retaining soil,preventing penetration and resisting scour. And also more advantages with material savings, reducing excavation and convenient construction. Therefore,RC sheet pile structure without anchor rod has been gradually used in the inland waterway of Huzhou.However, the theory of sheet pile walls is still behind the engineering practice currently in inland river. To ensure the safety reliability and economy of the sheet pile wall,it is necessary to test study of the structure bearing properties.Based on the sheet pile reinforced revetment engineering at Chang-Hu-Shen Channel of HuZhou,a comprehensive study on the bearing properties and deformation mechanism of sheet pile reinforced revetment is conducted firstly by the field tests. Load transfer mechanism, bearing mechanism,lateral earth pressure of sheet pile and stress under bottom plate are investigated in different geological and ground load conditions.Based on field test, the bearing properties and deformation mechanism of sheet pile are compared and certificated by theoretical calculation and numerical simulation. Based on the established modified method to calculate the earth pressure when taking the overburden loadings into account,a set of practical design methods of sheet pile without anchor rod are proposed preliminarily by using Code for design and construction of sheet pile quays,GEO-SLOPE software and Mindlin stress solution comprehensively. It will be applied into pile sheet revetment of similar inland river, achieveing both economic and safe purposes.
