The grading ring or cap is a common part of all kinds of high voltage test. It can reduce corona interference and improve the electric field distribution. But the main composition material of the traditional grading ring or cap is aluminum or stainless steel.Its major shortcoming are bulky and awkward installation. So that, the intensive development of the experimental system and the site high voltage test have been seriously affected.In this paper, a new light weight grading ring and cap for high voltage test are developed on the basis of three dimensional force analysis. For the new light weight grading ring and cap, a new type of conductive material and inflatable structure is used.The products not only greatly improve the efficiency of the field high-pressure test work,reduce the labor intensity of the test personnel, but also for the development of small and lightweight product has laid a technical foundation. It has the following characteristics:1) improving the working efficiency of the field high voltage test. 2)Reducing the storage volume and the overall weight. 3)reducing the impact damage by using the new structure and new materials.In addition, the product can reduce the equipment preparation time for the single test about 1 hour; save manpower about 1 ~ 2 people each time; reduce the difficulty of the test about 10%, reduce with equipment(bucket arm trucks, cranes, etc.) 1 ~ 2 each time;reduce the single test time about 1 to 2 hours.
