The roller on the side-worm enveloping worm gear drive is proposed based on the research of side-worm gears pairs drive and anti-backlash double-roller enveloping hourglass worm gearing,it is a new worm gears pairs.The rollers are assembled on the end surface of the worm wheel equally.Based on the special structure of worm gear pairs,it has quite many advantages such as large overlap degree and the high loading capacity of side-worm gears pairs drive,and it also has many merits such as high transmitting efficiency and easy to make of roller worm gearing.In this paper,based on spatial meshing theory and differential geometry theory,the meshing theory,geometric characteristics,meshing performance and contact strength of this worm gear drive are researched.The main research contents are as follows:The mathematical model of this roller enveloping the side-worm gear pairs drive by using meshing theory,differential geometry theory and relative kinematics.The meshing theory is deduced based on the mathematical model.And the derivation process of meshing funcation,contact strength,worm tooth surface equations are described,and the calculation formula of correlation performance parameters are described.The meshing performance of this roller enveloping the side-worm gear pairs drive is deeply study.Under the best meshing performance,the influencing factors of main parameters such as orifice coefficient,roller radius,circumferential angle,transmission ratio of engagement performance are analyzed.The results showed that the side-worm gear pairs drive has the best meshing performance.The lubrication angle is more than 80°,the roller radius should be controlled within 4~10mm,and the beat transmission ratio is 18~60.According to the meshing geometry of roller enveloping the side-worm gear pairs,the calculation formula of tooth thickness and helix angle are derived,A set design formula of same type worm gear pairs is compiled.The solid model of this worm gear pairs is established using Pro-e software when the worm threads is 1,transmission ratio is 40,center distance is 160.The worm gear tooth and shape are drawn,and the tooth thickness of reference circle,addendum circle and root circle are calculated.Based on hertz formula and cantilever structure mechanical,tooth face contact stress and bending stress of rollers are derived and calculated.It showed that the contact strength of side-worm gear pairs is best after calculation and analysis,and the rollers unease fractured.
