Facing the competitive intense powder metallurgy (PM) parts manufacturing industry. Foreign companies which dominate in the market depend on their technology and funds. PM parts manufacturing industry starting late in our country, to break the foreign companies monopoly on domestic and international markets, we must close materials and processes gap.Under the same cutting parameters and corner radius condition, cutting different material of PM vale sate, results show that composite particles in PM vale sate is the main causes of tools wear. More composite particles, more wear; and then cutting the same material of PM vale sate by PCBN tools which have three kind of corner radius re, analyzes the influence of corner radius on tools wear, the smaller the radius, the worse the wear. And then draw conclusions that the wear mechanisms of PCBN tools cutting PM vale sate are mainly oxidation wear, diffusion wear and adhesive wear by stereomicroscope, SEM and EDS, the failure modes are mainly spalling and tipping.Then explore the influence of corner radius on cutting force and surface roughness by single factor and orthogonal experiment. With the increase of corner radius, axial force, radial force and surface roughness are firstly increased and then decreased, but main cutting force impacts turn out to be small. By the analysis of variance, learning that cutting depth ap has highly significant influence on main cutting force and axial force, but cutting speed v, cutting depth ap, feed rate f and corner radius rε have no significant effect on radial force and surface roughness, the most influential factor is corner radius rε.Then, built and verified the cutting force and surface roughness forecasting models when rε=0.3mm.In this paper aim to explore the wear mechanisms of PCBN tools cutting PM vale sate and the influence of main cutting factors on production process, to achieve optimal cutting parameters and built forecasting models. The research results of this paper to establish reasonable cutting parameters and product inspection are a certain reference value and practical significance.
