Tumble and fall accidents often happen to Large-tonnage mine dump trucks, due to driving in bad working environment and complex off-road conditions led to lower operational stability. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the cab of mine dump truck through ROPS&FOPS analysis in order to improve the safety of the driver.The structure optimization technology is based on mathematical programming and combines the CAE analysis technique and optimization method effectively, which provides a method to obtain the best material distribution in the design space, considering the various design constraints. Due to the different design variables, the structure optimization has different branches, such as size optimization, shape optimization, topology optimization and so on. The cab design not only meet the strength and stiffness, energy absorption and quality requirements also need to meet certain requirements of dynamic performance. Therefore, the multi objective optimization method is used to complete the cab design. This paper includes:(1) According to the FOPS & ROPS standard of cab, The cab is not only required to meet certain loading force but also to meet the requirements of energy absorption, which make the cab appear plastic deformation. So we need to establish a nonlinear finite element analysis model of cab.(2) Based on the orthogonal test, the influence of the thickness of each component on the target response is analyzed, The thickness of on significant affected component is determined by the full stress method, and the component is significantly affected as the object to be optimized.an approximate model between design variables and objective function was established by the High Dimensional Model Representation based on Thin Plate Spline Interpolation (TPS-HDMR).Then, by using double-nested GA, the deformation and the weight of the ROPS are optimized in this paper.(3) Using OptiStruct software to implement structural shape optimization design for cab, The optimized result could meet the stiffness requirement on FOPS condition and the requirement of frequency vibration.Comparing the analysis result testified that the shape optimization method is effective for Cab skin structure optimization.(4) In order to test the design of the cab to meet the needs of the project, the test of ROPS for Cab was designed, which shows that the cab design is reasonable.
