Unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV) is becoming increasing important in modern warfare, and Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) is a kind of all-weather and day-and-night remote sensing tools, through which high resolution image can be obtained. It would be extraordinary if a UAV can mount a SAR, but the ordinary SAR is too big and too heavy for a small size UAV to mount, so it is of great significance to develop mini SAR, this paper investigates the digital imaging and processing system design for mini SAR base on Z7, it has the advantages of small volume, little weight, steady performance, low cost and low power dissipation, the following achievement was obtained by the research:1)According to the performance that mini SAR must reach, the architectural structure of the mini SAR is built, hardware chosen is based on the system scheme, Xilinx Zynq7000 is used as the as the system core of controlling and processing, together with peripheral chipsets such as AD,DA and nano flash, sar real-time imaging and echo data storage is realized.2)Study the inter interface of Xilinx Zynq7000, there are three kinds of interface between PS(ARM) and PL(FPGA) in Zynq7000, which are AXI_HP, AXI_GP and AXI_ACP, and discusses its function and application, and the selection of the interfaces is analyzed.3)Design the peripheral port of the digital imaging and processing system, a new type of interface design is proposed, PS is used as the control core, AXI bus is used as the link between PS and PL, the outer device is connected by PL, which by takes full advantage of ARM in controlling and FPGA in expansion. The HDLC communications protocol is also been researched, the frame format and CRC checkout of the protocol is introduced, hardware realization is also been explained in detail.4)Introduce the software design of the digital imaging and processing system, include the timing module, signal produce module, Echo signal acquisition module, software configuration and code design of those module is explained, and the performance parameter of the module is also tested. A new type of method of DA signal generation is proposed, Ram in PL is written by PS through the AXI bus, so the signal can be easily changed and compensated.5)PL is used to accelerate the SAR imaging algorithm, which makes up the PS slow calculation rate, the PL is short of logical resource due to the heavy processing burden, the problem is solved by using the IP core reuse with the help of arm auxiliary controlling.6)The summary and expectation are at the end of the paper, the performance of mini SAR can be improved if using new generation chip.
