In recent years, with the rapid development of China's economy and the scale of power system, the society and the users have higher requirements for the reliability of power supply. Especially the China State Grid Corp in the system to comprehensively promote the upgrading of the distribution network, to build a strong smart distribution network as the goal, and the switch cabinet as one of the important equipment in power system distribution network, its security and stability directly affect the reliable operation of the system. The insulation deterioration, defect or poor contact of switch cabinet may cause power system fault, so the monitoring of the operation of the switch cabinet is very important for improving the reliability of power supply and distribution network automation.This paper introduces the method of partial discharge detection in switchgear.Based on the analysis and comparison, the TEV Voltage TEV(Earth) is developed.The system can realize real-time monitoring, provide data information for condition based maintenance, provide maintenance strategy, and avoid insulation failure, reduce the failure rate, reduce the maintenance cost and improve the operating efficiency.In this paper, the TEV is used to simulate the system. The test results are obtained by using the 10 k V switch cabinet of Jincheng power supply company. It has achieved good results in the practical application. The accuracy and reliability of the system are verified.
