The trochoidal roller pinion rack transmission is proposed because it is important to meet drive requirements of the high precision, high speed and long-stroke for robotic driving system. It has a high-precision, keyed poor, steady running, etc. And it has good prospects in the mobile robot system. An investigation on the theory of tooth profile, meshing characteristics of a new type, meshing force, contact stress and finite element simulation of trochoidal roller pinion rack transmission was made in this topic in order to form the drive systematic theory and application results. At the same time, the general guiding reference to the model design and manufacture, performance optimization and production application.Firstly, an investigation on the theory of tooth profile and meshing characteristics of a new type of trochoidal roller pinion rack transmission was made. On the the basis of generating principle of the trochoidal and meshing rule, the theoretic and practical tooth profile equations were derived, and the change of curvature and curvature radius of the trochoidal tooth profile was analyzed. According to the analysis and meshing principle, the condition of undercut of practical tooth profile was concluded.Secondly, based on meshing principle, the formulae of the pressure angle were established, and the dynamic change law of pressure angle is got under the multiple tooth meshing state. Given the contact ratio, the requirement of the correct meshing and continuous transmission were received. The key parameter values were discussed with tooth structure and transmission characteristics.And then, an investigation on meshing force and contact stress of trochoidal roller pinion rack transmission was made. The force model of engagement pair was established when considering statically indeterminate problem multi-teeth meshing transmission, and the time-variant calculating formula and change of engagement force was derived, and force distribution between rollers was analyzed according to the equilibrium conditions of moment and the analysis of pressure angle. The calculating formula and change of stress was concluded. A study on the stress of the drive was carried out, the contact stress and bending stress were concluded.Deformation calculation formula are obtained on the the basis of Weber method and Hertz contact formula.Finally, the method of tooth profile modeling and meshing theory was proved by three-dimensional modeling and mesh simulation by Pro/E software. The finite element models of engagement pair were established with different engagementpositions by ANSYS software. Finite element model with the different meshing positions were built. Mechanics modeling method and analysis the results was corrected by finite element simulation of each model.
