At present,the laminated rubber bearing is the most widely used bearing type in the highway bridges.During the Wenchuan earthquake,the small and medium span beam bridges were mainly damaged by displacement of the main beams and the bearings failure,but the piers failure was few.Rubber Bearings can reduce the inertia force delivered on the top of the pier to protect bridge piers by energy dissipation of rubber shear deformation and friction sliding.The laminated rubber bearing can be divided into three types,which are bilateral connection,one side connection,and the non-connecting laminated rubber bearing.And the seismic disasters were different corresponding to the different ways of connection of the rubber bearings.In the meantime,transverse bridge seismic disasters of the small and medium radius curved continuous beam bridges were prominent from statistics.Consequently,the reasonable arrangement form between pier and beam is needed to be studied.This paper focuses on the seismic performance of laminated rubber bearing,mechanical performance differences caused by different connected forms and the plausible connecting style between pier and beam of small and medium radius curve continuous beam bridges to progress laboratory test,finite element simulation and theoretical research.The contents of the paper are as follows.1.Brief introduction about the laminated rubber bearing,damage statistics in Wenchuan earthquake,and seismic damage characteristics of the small and medium radius curve continuous beam bridge in the earthquake.2.Carrying out laminated rubber bearing experiments using pressure and shear test machine,contrasting seismic performance of bearings for different connection modes under the conditions of normal application stage,large displacement deformation stage and high amplitude vertical pressure.3.Actuating device pseudo-sta experiment of rubber bearings,research on the constitutive model of three kinds of bearings under the conditions of high frequency harmonic pressure input,ground motion input and bidirectional loading.4.By using the finite element software ABAQUS,the numerical simulation of three kinds of bearings with different connection modes is carried out.Finite element simulation focuses on the research conditions failure to achieve due to laboratory condition constraints,such as two-direction large displacement loading.5.The constitutive relation of the test is used in the Civil Midas model,and the seismic performance of the plate rubber bearing with different connection modes is compared.Comparing the advantages and disadvantages in terms of seismic performance among the consolidation constraint,the fixed support connection,and the connection of rubber bearings of the middle pier,with the help of finite element simulation of Xiao Huang Gou Bridge,to explore the reasonable connection form between pier and beam.
