With the continuous consumption of fossil fuel worldwide, energy and environmental problems have been becoming increasingly prominent. For a long time, the important energy, electric power is mainly produced by thermal power generation. At the same time the demand of users is growing rapidly. Distribution network, which is the closest to power users, has some unique features such as requirement of large investment in expansion, long construction period, big gap in power load at different times in one day and so on. So it is hard to match the nonstop growth in the demand of electric power only by expanding the power capacity in distribution networks and constructing new power plants, which are two uneconomical ways.The demand response technology is able to alleviate the short-term power capacity shortage and adjust the peak load of power grid. So it can be used to delay the investment in the expansion of power grid. The rising distributed generation, which is much closer to power users, is one of the most important directions of development of power industry due to its cleanness and efficiency. So it is an obvious tendency to take demand response and distributed generation into consideration in the smart grid on the basis of traditional centralized power generation and large scale power grid operation.At first the basic knowledge and current situation of development of distribution network planning is introduced in this thesis. Then a brief description of planning method is presented. And a key analysis of integrated resource planning method is expounded while its mathematical model is established.Secondly, based on a detailed introduction of demand response technology, its influence on distribution network planning is discussed. And accordingly, a mathematical model is brought forward. After solving an example, the model is proved to be correct and effective and meanwhile the significance of delaying investment and cost effectiveness of demand response is shown.Thirdly, the concept and classification of distributed generation is introduced, followed by a discussion of its effect after integrating into power system. Then a multi-objective mathematical model is established which takes demand response and distributed generation into account on the comprehensive consideration of the resources of both supply and demand side. In the model capacity shortage of distribution network is tried to be solved by optimal allocation of demand response programs and distributed generations.At last, the multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm is written using the Matlab software. And different planning programs are achieved on the demonstration of the results of a practical calculation example, the feasibility and economy of planning method considering both demand response and distributed generation are also verified.
