The practice of damming by normal concrete with high fly ash and RCC in Xiangjiaba dam has broken through the original concept of damming. At present, Xiangjiaba dam has generated power on schedule, every monitoring data is normal. RCC has the characteristics of rapid construction, the construction of concrete gravity dam used by RCC and normal concrete will be the effective means to alleviate the pressure of the schedule. At the same time, the application of normal concrete with high fly ash is also the direction of the hydropower development in the future. Therefore, we need to analyze thermal and mechanical properties of normal concrete with high fly ash and RCC, then summarize the key technology of damming.First, this paper uses the long age measured data of the thermometer, zero stress-strain meter and seam measurement meter to analyze the temperature and the longitudinal and transverse crack opening in Xiangjiaba dam and invert the linear expansion coefficient. Providing parameters for the model of the simulation calculationThen, having the test on the adiabatic temperature rise and the main mechanical properties of normal concrete with high fly ash and RCC. Inverting the adiabatic temperature rise with new invention patent technology, comparing the adiabatic temperature rise curve of normal concrete with high fly ash with the curve of RCC. Analyzing that the temperature rise of normal concrete is fast in the early stage, and the temperature rise of RCC is potential in the last stage. Based on the mixture of Xiangjiaba dam, adjusting parameters appropriately and having the test on the normal concrete with different content of fly ash(20%,30%,40%), including the adiabatic rise of temperature, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and elastic modulus. Analyzing that with the increasing of fly ash, the four thermal and mechanical indexes decrease.Based on the adiabatic temperature rise parameters by test, through the simulation calculation, inverting the adiabatic temperature rise parameters of normal concrete with high fly ash and RCC. Then getting the adiabatic temperature rise curves. It can also be concluded that the temperature rise of normal concrete is fast in the early stage, and the temperature rise of RCC is potential in the last stage.Considering the construction season, pouring temperature, layer thickness, the temperature control measures and the storage situation, having the simulation calculation on the stress field and temperature field of the fourth dam section. The result shows the dam temperature conforms to the requirement of temperature control. The effect of cooling water is good.Finally, making the fourth dam section as the typical dam section, adjusting the mechanical parameters to calculate the change of the dam deformation. Exploring the coordination of deformation between normal concrete and RCC.
