The cylinder, as a typical storage and transportation equipment, has played a more and more important role in national economy. Because the cylinder is mainly used for storage of high pressure gas cylinders, once it is leakage or explosion, it will cause great losses to the national economy, people's life and property. So cylinders' quality should be under control strictly. Hydrostatic test is an indispensable part in the process of production and use of cylinders, so the quality of the hydrostatic test device will directly affect the reliability of the test results, efficiency of cylinder production and detection and so on. This paper will discuss hydrostatic testing device, which is of great significance for cylinder detection research.After comprehensively comparing advantages and disadvantages of the water jacket method and direct expansion method, and analyzing its detection principle and optimized the test apparatus, this paper, according to the practical use of hydrostatic apparatus,develops a hydrostatic test apparatus of two stations and completes a selection of the element. Using the VC++6.0 software, this paper also develops a visual software for hydrostatic test, and completes the hardware selection and the design of the control circuit.Through reading the relevant data and analyzing the standard request in hydrostatic test at present, the impact factors of the holding time and pressure release time are explored.Using the hydrostatic test device which has been completed, the reasonably data of holding time and pressure release time can be got by experiments, which makes its detection more efficient and improves the reliability of the test. Then the paper analyzes the rate of residual deformation of the volume. After that, the rate is used as the theory basis of judging standard. Afterwards, outer and inner of the gas cylinder is analyzed by the ANSY, a finite element software. By comparing the deflection of the contrast found under the pressure test,the paper shows that the previous rate of residual deformation can't accurately reflect the distribution of stresses of the gas cylinder. Because the rate of residual deformation, as the theory basis of judging standard, still has some defect, the elastic deformation of volume is introduced as a judging standard, which can further improve the detection accuracy. Finally,the paper will demonstrate its feasibility theoretically, which will help develop a more reasonable judging standard for the hydrostatic test.
