Head-up display(HUD), as a new type of vehicle visual interactive equipment, has the good auxiliary effect on reducing visual distractions and action distraction while driver is reading vehicle-information. At present, the number of vehicle equipped with HUD is very rare on the market, the promotion of the HUD is in its infancy. On the other hand, there is A variety of the existing HUD's visual interactive interface, most of those interface's design is not fully considering the drivers' demand for on-board information while reading in the system of human-vehicle-environment. At the same time, such interface design do not conform to the people for ergonomics and design requirements, it consumes drivers' cognitive resources while reading information from this kind of HUD, which is easy to cause cognitive distraction. According to the application background, this paper is based on ergonomics and design method, carried out the new HUD visual interface design research in order to reduce the driver cognitive resources consumption and improve driving safety.First of all, through to study of the 2015 China's auto market HUD equipped case, which combined with the questionnaire survey and user interviews, this paper spotted HUD market opportunities and drivers specific requirements of on-board information. Then, based on the android mobile terminal app developed in this paper, which combining with the existing ELM327 blue-tooth detector and OBD ? ECU simulator which can call on-board data such as speed and rotational speed and through the design of the new HUD visual interactive, the visualization of data is reached; Finally, based on the driving simulator and simulation environment, the new designed HUD visual interface and existing product have carried on the preliminary ergonomics contrast experiment. The experiment adopted the secondary task method and subjective evaluation method, from this two aspects of objective and subjective, HUD visual interface is compared. Experimental results show on-board information reading time of the new designed HUD visual interface is shorter, more efficient, the caused distractions is smaller and interface can supply a better user experience.
