Screw compressor has characteristics of exhaust stability, high exhaust pressure, quick exhaust flow and high exhaust temperature. In order to fulfill the requirement of snow removing, a new snow blower with screw compressor being as gas source is designed.At first, the status and development trend of domestic and international snow remover is analyzed, with emphasis on introducing the mechanical method of removal snow. Classification of recent snow remover is made by two aspects- work devices and the machine features. The physical properties of snow, such as density, class, hardness, anti-shear stress and friction character, are also specified. The calculation and design of the remover can be accomplished with the knowledge of snow, which is the foundation of this paper.Secondly, by analyzing the snow-blowing device, screw compressor is first used as a new gas source, which makes it possible to remove the snow in large area greatly. With compressor selected as the gas source on the basis of calculation, the pipe diagram is drawn by using the software FLUENT, and model of vent pipe is established. The result shows that the design of the new snow blower is reasonable and conforms to the requirements.Finally, on the basis of snow-blowing procedure, the snow blade is added to enhance the capacity of removal. Calculation of impedance drag, tangent traction, power and vehicles of lateral stability, shows that the new snow blower can perform the removal operation effectively under the rated condition that snow height is 0.5m, density is 300kg/m3 and working speed is 18km/h.
