Performance based navigation(PBN) is future orientation of civil aviation navigation. This technology helps to improve operation efficiency and to optimize the utilization of airspace. Global Navigation Satellite System is one critical part of the system whose performance has to satisfy the related regulations. BDS is a satellite navigation system developed by our country, which has realized coverage in the Asia Pacific region.BDS system is researched as background, test method of airport terminal area coverage is studied, experimental environment is built, and the experimental results are analyzed. At first, introduction of PBN is made, its significance to the civil aviation operation is discussed, specific performance requirements to the navigation system are summarized, in which accuracy and integrity are key parameters of the research. Then the basic principle of satellite navigation is summarized. Parameters that influence the positioning accuracy are found out by analyzing the related algorithms. Definition of dilution of precision is studied. Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring algorithms are introduced, method of parameters calculation and related standard are studied. These theoretical analyzes provide references for the experiment.Experiment is deployed according to the theory. BDS XINGTONG receiver is used as hardware platform, self-designed software for receiver controlling and data collecting is used as software platform. The experiment spot is N12 building roof of Civil Aviation University of China. Continuous observation and data recording of GPS and BDS which lasts at least 24 hours is done.According to the data collected, the CEP accuracy, satellite visibility, Dilution Precision are analyzed by using self developed analysis software. For the receiver autonomous monitoring algorithm(RAIM),its availability is analyzed according to the ICAO regulations. At last, the conclusion of the study is made, results show that BDS system performances meet the requirement of the design goal. For non-precision approach(NPA),the system has good availability of Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring(RAIM) algorithm. But for approach with vertical guidance and precision approach, it has worse performance than GPSsystem. With the increase of satellite numbers in Beidou constellations, the situation might be improved.
