Ecosystem in Karst areas is very fragile, which is very difficult to restore once damaged. With the rapid advance of urbanization process in the Southwest-one of the main Karst areas in China, high intensity of human activities has caused serious degradation of ecological environment, and ecological environment problems such as rocky desertification, soil erosion, groundwater pollution, frequent flood and drought, and collapse of ground soil have arisen in the above Karst urban areas. These ecological environment problems, especially the most serious problem of rocky desertification, have greatly impacted and threaten to the local social and economic environment and the sustainable development of the human living environment. Moreover, urban ecological landscape pattern acting as the main carrying space for human activity in the ecosystem, on the one hand reflects the quality connotation and the structure characteristics of the regional ecological environment, on the other hand is also a sign of the sustainable development of urban environment. Therefore, study on urban ecological landscape pattern change in Karst areas is of great significance for related city constructing and realizing the goal of sustainable development. This paper taking the case of Anshun which locates in the central region of the Southwest Karst areas for example, and comprehensively applying the 3S technology based on remote-sensing imagery interpretation of Anshun from 1990 to 2015, studies the change of Anshun’s landscape elements and further ecological landscape pattern and also the typical characteristic and formation mechanism of rocky desertification in Anshun, and proposes optimizing strategy for Anshun’s ecological landscape patter.
