In order to improve energy utilization rate, finned tube heat exchangers were widely adopted in energy field. However, in the waste heat recovery of industrial flue gas, the flue gas always carries a lot of dust, which made the complex structure of finned tube heat exchanger unable to be applied. Thus, H-type finned tube which with wear and dust prevention characteristics attracted more and more attention.This paper took H-type finned tube as the study object. It adopted numerical simulation method to study the influence of structure parameters on the heat transfer and flow characteristics of H-type finned tubes under different arrangements, as well as, proposed a method to select the structure parameters of H-type finned tubes. Under two kinds of arrangements, the results showed that fin width has the biggest influence on Nu number however fin pitch has the biggest influence on Eu number. For the in-lined mode, slit width has the smallest influence, while as to the staggered mode, longitudinal tube spacing has the smallest influence, and the correlation equations on Nu number and Eu number were fitted based on the simulation results. In the study of selection H-type fined tube structure parameters, the single H-type finned tube was studied, for this, two indicators were proposed to evaluate the performance of H-type finned tube, i.e. the heat exchange per unit mass and the recovered heat transfer per unit power of the fan. The two indicators were major influence factors of manufacture cost and operation cost. At last, it studied the influence of different material on heat transfer coefficient by experiment.The results showed that these studies include the influence of H-type finned tube structure parameters on the heat transfer and flow characteristics, the selection method of H-type finned tubes structure parameters, and the influence of different material on heat transfer coefficient provides important theoretical foundation in the practical application industry.
