Wheelchair is an important transport of physically disabled and elderly people. In some developing countries, many of the old buildings are not equipped with elevators, so physically disabled and elderly people up and down the stairs harder. The stair-climbing wheelchair which manufactured in developed countries is expensive and complicated to operate, so ordinary users in developing countries is difficult to bear. The gap between the domestic products and foreign products is a little large, especially in climb stability and security, and we are not doing well enough. This topic proposed a new kind of stair-climbing wheelchair solution which based on the relevant research at home and abroad, in order to better solve the stability and security of the wheelchair when climb the stair. In this paper, the overall scheme and the key problems of the stair-climbing wheelchair is studied, and the research contents and results include:1) This paper has designed the overall of the stair-climbing wheelchair. In this paper, the comprehensive evaluation method is used to analyze the working principle of the stair-climbing mechanisms and the advantages and disadvantages of the different mechanisms, and determined the three wheeled wheel mechanism as a stair-climbing mechanisms; the process and principle of the wheelchair climbing stairs and turning stairs are analyzed, and the dynamic system design is carried out; the design calculation of the transmission part is completed; in accordance with national standard for the stair, the analysis and parameter design calculation of the wheel and the wheel frame are carried out in the execution system; the frame of wheelchair is designed.2) This paper has analyzed the kinematics and mechanical obstacle when the wheelchair is running on the ground and climbing the stair to provide the theoretical basis for the whole design of the project.3) This paper has designed the structure of the wheelchair using CATIA software, and completed the virtual assembly; completed the finite element analysis of the wheelchair frame to verify the feasibility of the frame structure design; simulated climbing process through DMU simulation module of CATIA and proved the feasibility of the design scheme based on the simulation results.This paper has taken concentric shaft way taking into account running on the ground and climbing the stair two different motion patterns, overcame the disadvantages of passive climbing scheme, and the research has innovation; in the course of the study, it has used modern design method of virtual design and finite element analysis, combined the computer technology and mechanical design and made the product design cycle shorter, reduced the design cost; The results have important significance to the further research and application of the related products.
