Flight Safety of aircraft is threatened by aircraft structure corrosion damage. It is a major technical problem for airlines to detect the structure corrosion damage exactly. To solve the problems of existing technologies, multi-angle Compton scattering imaging technique is used for nondestructive testing of aircraft skin. The image reconstruction algorithm is studied with discussion of the basic theory of Compton scattering imaging technique, multi-angle detection model for the major structure of the aircraft is explored.Firstly, based on Monte Carlo particle transport theory, Compton scattering model of physical processes is designed with Geant4 and MCNP software. Then Compton scattering of photons in different situations of physical processes and the system transmission of ray particles are simulated. The radial photons are simulated in different system structure models and parameters with MCNP, as a result, the distribution of the photons and the response of the detector are achieved. Furthermore, structure and parameters of the system are optimized in order to improve system performance, providing guidance on measurement.Secondly, using many kinds of technology to enhance the quality of the Compton scattering reconstruction image, which derived from multi-angle detecting information, such as spatial distribution of detectors, design of collimator optimized and gridding. so, corrosion information is obtained precisely,Finally, based on the optimized system test structure, image for different damage was reconstructed, and the advantages of the system in the non-destructive testing are proved by the reconstructed image. Further research directions and some advice is proposed for the current problems.
